One explanation might be as follows:
If you decide to use SATD as your "mismatch metric", which is proven to
be beneficial for a compression efficiency in subpel Motion Estimation,
you might want to use exactly the same metric on an Intra encoding side
to decide/guess on macroblock "the best" encoding mode.

differenes (SAD) and SATD calculation in H.264 encoder
	1.  Which one is the better one SATD or SAD .
	2.  Is there any specific reason for using of SATD(Sum of
Hadmard) over SAD for 4x4 intraprediction.
