A few things: 1. The AIC demo demonstrated the transport of a pure MPEG4 application over MPEG2. The MPEG4 player used was the 2D reference player from IM1 with an MMX optimised mpeg2 decoder plugin and a DMIF filter to extract the flexmux channels from the Transport Stream. Etri was in the NexTV project responsible for the server side. 2. Within the european ICECREAM project work is done to sent synchronous tracking data of football players using MPEG4 systems. This to enable the drawing of simple animations on top of the video. 3. We also have a demonstration running which demonstrates the use of MPEG4 video encapsulated within MPEG2 in an interactive television application. We are planning to use MPEG4 video for this, because we only want to embed the latest action replays in the DVB stream and transparantly want to stream the older video clips transported over IP. MPEG4-Video (or its successor H264/JVT) is perfectly fitted for this: it has a good compression and can be transported over DVB and IP. 4. A recorded video of a demo session and a powerpoint presentation of our latest work can be found on ftp://gast:p0werd0wn@ftp.innov.nob.nl/ I hope you have access to it. The aim of our work is to create commercial requirements for DVB to accept MPEG4 Video and possibly MPEG4 Bifs as a media format and also important to define an API to access this media from an interactive television application (e.g. MHP). Examples of the use of this API can be seen in the video clip.
