From benjamin.huot comcast.net Tue May 24 11:24:51 2005 From: benjamin.huot comcast.net (Benjamin Huot) Date: Tue May 24 14:31:36 2005 Subject: [MPEGIF Discuss] MP4 for internet downloads Message-ID: <829a59d2d4b7c28eec506d3e795fb923@comcast.net> I have 12 MP4s available for Internet download on my personal website which I charge no money for. I used the encoder that comes with a legally purchased copy of iMovie which I am sure Apple paid for the encoder license. I am not streaming it or charging for users and they are my own productions - nobody else is getting paid for them either. I only have about 5,000 users a year visit my website and most don't download anything large like videos. These are just visual - no audio. Regardless of how many people download my MP4s or how many I make if there is no money exchanging hands in the production or downloading of them, would I have to pay royalties? How long would this license be for? thanks, Ben
