[M4IF Technotes] Technical question concerning BIFS

Hello all,
I have one more technical question concerning MPEG-4 which I do not find
immediately an answer to in the MPEG-4 documents I posses.
Is it correct to say that the BIFS description is stored in a seperate
elementary stream. This stream is then combined with the other
elementary streams.
Would it be possible to send this BIFS-stream in advance through a
network and then combine the BIFS-stream with the other data on the
moment of playback. Would this theoretically be possible or can it
(nowadays) be done in real live applications ?
