[M4IF Technotes] question on reference code

Liang,
IM1 and the MS video codec are two different pieces of software that
implement different parts of the MPEG-4 standard. IM1 is the Systems
reference software while the MS codec is the Visual reference software. With
some effort, they can be integrated as complementary components of a single
application. They are not interoperable, just like video and audio codecs
are not interoperable. And then, wrong, IM1 is *not* supposed to cover the
natural coding part, while MS codec is.
Hope this clarifies the situation a bit.
