The components of ActiveMovie have been folded into DirectX8.
Microsoft have changed the names of this stuff several times
in the last few years (ActiveMovie, DirectShow, DirectX Media,..)
And yes, further discussion of this topic belongs elsewhere.
MS maintain a news server with groups for different MS products
where you can ask developer questions. Also see MSDN and knowlege
base articles.
