I appreciate that this essay is fairly technical, so the
summary is
* Advanced COding Efficiency (ACE) supports at least 
  1920 x 1088   at LEvel 4
* Same for Main Profile at Level 4
Advanced Coding Efficiency is a superset of Advanced
Simple, and supports arbitrary shape objects in addition
to the tools that make Advanced Simple the Profile of
choice for e.g. ISMA (www.isma.tv)
MPEG has considered etending Advanced Simple to HD,
but has reasoned that by the time that this is done,
there will be MPEG-4 part 10 (Advanced Video Coding) / H.264
and the new AS level would compete with the Profiles/Levels
in part 10. 
In other words: there is support now, and more is coming 
in H.264 / MPEG-4 part 10 AVC.
