H.264 (AVC) does not identify objects like MPEG-4 Visual does. AVC streams
could be treated as objects in an MPEG-4 System though.
In the future, the new standard "might" support alpha plane coding, which
will be helpful in professional environments, can be used to support
arbitrary-shape objects also in a consumer environment. There is currently a
desire to add this feature, but it wil depend on there being enough
technical proposals.
Best, Rob

Subject: [Mp4-tech] MPEG-4 part 10
Dear All,
MPEG-4 visual treats a video sequence as a collection of one or more video
objects.
Does H.264 or MPEG-4 part 10 treat a video sequence the same way (as video
objects) ?
>From what I have read, it seems not, Do you think that a new version of
H.264 could support video objects?
Thanks in advance,
