[Mp4-tech] http streaming

am new to this
have recently learned how to implement a "progressive download" for an mpeg4 video file, and feel very pleased! it's also embedded in the webpage http://www.dosvatos.com/new/beautysalon.htm
however, i realise this is a simplistic solution and was wondering what would be the reasons to learn more about streaming, for example how to stop a copy of the file being left on the local hard-drive.
target audience is broadband users with quicktime
