Hi
I had worked on the microsoft reference code some months back, but i was
mainly focussed on using this reference code to develop a simple profile
mpeg-4 decoder. So I had done my tests on the stef_cif.cmp file ( the tennis
player clip). There was no memory issues and the decoded file played ok on
my windows 2000 (256 MB RAM) machine. Why dont you try if you encounter a
virtual memory problem with this stef-cif.cmp file as well.
About the frame type, i believe the refernce code only supports the 4:2:0
format.

Reeja

Subject: [Mp4-tech] Need info on the decoder..
Hi Folks,
We downloaded the MPEG4 Reference code (Natural.zip) from
http://www.iso.ch/iso/en/ittf/PubliclyAvailableStandards/14496-5_Compressed_
directories/Visual/
& built the Microsoft section of it & got decoder.exe. Next, we tried
decoding one of the sample files (vtc_brea_cif.cmp). But on a Windows2000
(256MB RAM) machine, this exe runs out of virtual memory! Is there a known
issue with it?
Also, we need to know if this supports 4:2:2 frame types (apart from 4:2:0)
as well?
Best Regards,
HARISH V
