However, you may also want to check the reference software implementation (http://bs.hhi.de/~suehring/tml/) and the VCodex tutorial written by Iain Richardson (http://www.vcodex.fsnet.co.uk/h264.html).  Those links are probably also easily found on the MPEG-IF web site.
