[Mp4-tech] synchronization of audio and video in MPEG-4

I was just wondering if any of you know where I can find some information about how audio and video are synchronized in the MPEG-4 dekoding process? I have successfully implemented an MPEG-4 video and an MPEG-4 audio decoder, but I'm not sure where I can synchronize them and how... in the scene composition or if it could be done in the decoding process (which I think would be the easiest way)!? I'm just a student and I'm quite new in the game ;-) Hope someone can help!?
