[Mp4-tech] Integrating encoder input and output with network simulator

Dear all,
I am trying to input the video stream generated with
JM11 into a network simulator and then reconstruct a
video from the output packets.
The network simulators I want to consider are both
OPNET and NS-2. Do you have specific solutions to
integrate an encoder/decoder with any of these
simulators ? Regarding OPNET there is an extension
called "System-In-The-Loop" that allows to input real
IP packets from a physiscal interface in the simulator
and write the output of the simulator into another
real physical interface, so that could be a solution,
anyone has experience with it? Any solution regarding
NS ?
>From the encoder log I can obtain the information I
need to input in the simulator, packet time and size,
but the problem is how to modify the binary generated
by the encoder according to the output of the
simulator to view the result after the decoder, and
compute for instance PSNR. Any existent tool that
allows for doing this?
Best Regards
Dani
