[Mp4-tech] question regarding prediction error

Dear Experts,
i am trying to find the prediction error for a macroblock,i am using the JM 10.2 reference software.i am looking at the dct_luma()
function in block.c,where the residual goes for transformation,but since the rdopt is enabled, i am not sure of how to find the prediction error for the best mode,please guide
