Subject: [Mp4-tech] reg RTP for AAC (LC)
Hi Ranjane,
you assumed right, RFC3640 is the RFC of choice regarding AAC over
RTP streaming. Unfortunately, there does exist any RFC discussing the
implementation issues of AAC-LC in RFC3640, besides the RFC itself.
In general, it can be accomplished quite easy, because lots of fields
refer to other media types (video, etc.) and can therefore be left
out. If you are familiar with the RFC already, I would recommend you
to read the 'mode' section and especially use the 'aac-hbr' mode,
which makes sense in common AAC bitrate/samplerate combinations. 'aac-
lbr' was added to reduce the RTP overhead for very low bitrates,
though it is used nowhere to my knowledge.
Actually, I am working on such an implementation guide since quite a
while, but never came around with a release. Maybe, this would be a
good idea to restart work on it. ;-)
If you have further questions, you should add myself to the
recipients list, because I do not get mp4-tech mails directly.
Cheers,
jochen
