Hi,
it seems like somebody tried to avoid a dynamic memory allocation which
results in wasting a lot of memory in many situations.
The reason why lower numbers work, is that you will need only one byte
per macroblock (or macroblock pair in mb aff). With 24,000 bytes this is
still about three times the size that you would need for full HD.
Thanks for the report. I have implemented a dynamic allocation into my
development tree.
