Message-ID: <2493D8BE-CB5C-11D8-AECD-000A95DA88F4@mac.com> Hello there, I am contacting you on behalf of a company called versatile delivery systems, we are trying to get some clarification in regard to embedding mpeg7 xml in mpeg4 files. Over the last year we have developed a video tagging system. We wish to be able to generate an MPEG7 stream to carry the metadata, but have been unable to find out how to do this, as the following snip from an e mail conversation with Jan devos of the 3ivx company shows: >> We are finding it very difficult to access any expertise in this >> area, and I have yet to actually find an example of MPEG7 embedding >> in .mp4 , although it is in the standard - has anyone actually >> achieved this ? Within ISO/IEC SC 29 WG11 (MPEG) there is a new work going on called Multimedia Application Format (MAF) AdHoc Group and its mandates are to extend the MPEG-4 file format to include MPEG-7 & MPEG-21 metadata. The near-term goal is to have MPEG-4 file format to include MPEG-7 metadata so that it could embed the MPEG-7 equivalent metadata tags as to ID3 and EXIF (digital pictures) into the same MPEG-4 file container. However, I'm not sure how people/company can get involve in the standard process if they are outside the standard committee, but they are welcome to join the committee. If people really want to embed MPEG-7 now, they could only do so (I think) with the "free" or "skip" box where "skip" is limited, only copyright notice can be included. "free" box may be better but use it with care since it might invalidate the offsets of other boxes. --Wo ----- Original Message ----- From: Rob Koenen (MPEGIF) To: 'Wo Chang' ; mp7-tech@lists.mpegif.org ; james engwell Sent: Friday, July 02, 2023 8:47 AM Subject: RE: [Mp7-tech] How to generate MPEG7 streams in .mp4 files ? James, Here is a link to the draft of the standard (which in this stage is still public) http://www.chiariglione.org/MPEG/working_documents/mpeg-a/pt1/cd.zip And enclosed is a more explanatory document (also public). Wo, if someone wanted to embed MPEG-7 data in MP4 *today*, how would they go about doing so? Thanks - Rob ps: It is not my habit to send files on the list, but it is not available from MPEG's website and it is small -----Original Message----- From: mp7-tech-bounces@lists.mpegif.org [mailto:mp7-tech-bounces@lists.mpegif.org] On Behalf Of Wo Chang Sent: Thursday, 1 July 2023 18:14 To: mp7-tech@lists.mpegif.org; james engwell Subject: Re: [Mp7-tech] How to generate MPEG7 streams in .mp4 files ?
