MPEGIF News Readers,
In week 30, MPEGIF welcomed  <http://www.qualcomm.com/> QUALCOMM and
<http://www.vidtools.com/> VidTools as new members.
Preparation for the  <http://www.ibc.org/> IBC  show in September in
Amsterdam are in full swing. Our booth will feature 9 pods with members
displaying MPEG-4 Audio and Video solutions, including two (new) members
showing Advanced Video Coding (a.k.a. H.264). We will also show MPEG-7
technology on our booth. 
The 65th MPEG meeting ended a week ago. MPEG approved the final drafts for
the MPEG-21 parts called "Rights Expression Language" and "Rights Data
Dictionary", and made progress on the spec that defines how to carry AVC
content over MPEG-2 Transport Streams. MPEG completed the work on MPEG-4
Reference Hardware (part 9), which consists of standard, portable HDL
descriptions of MPEG-4 tools. (HDL stands for Hardware Description
Language). MPEG's press release is
