<P><FONT face=3DVerdana size=3D2>M4IF held its Annual Meeting end of =
June. With=20
unanimous member support, M4IF decided to expand its focus to other MPEG =
upcoming standards, MPEG-7 and MPEG-21. You may have seen our </FONT><A=20
href=3D"http://www.m4if.org/public/documents/vault/mp-out-30049.php"><FON=
T=20
face=3DVerdana size=3D2>press release</FONT></A><FONT face=3DVerdana =
size=3D2>. This=20
change is effective immediately, and the Forum, now called MPEG Industry =
Forum=20

face=3DVerdana size=3D2>MPEGIF</FONT></A><FONT face=3DVerdana size=3D2>) =
is accepting=20
membership applications from companies that want to see MPEG-7 and =
MPEG-21=20
universally adopted. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=3DVerdana size=3D2>In the short term, MPEG-4 will remain =
the focus of=20
a large part of our membership. We will keep using the M4IF name, domain =
name=20
and logo, next to the new domain name. Members with MPEG-7 and MPEG-21 =
interests=20
have started to develop specific activities to promote those standards. =
It is=20
good to see that many members are actually seeking to use these standard =
in=20
combination. In our trade shows and other activities, we will take an=20
integrative approach in showing what the standards mean for the =
interoperable=20
deployment of multimedia content and services.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=3DVerdana size=3D2>Another innovation is a new category of =
Associate=20
Membership: Personal Membership. Many people who want to support MPEG =
standards=20
have requested us to join the Forum as individuals, but up until now, =
our=20
Statutes only allowed organizations to join. M<SPAN=20
class=3D079334606-14072003>PEG</SPAN>IF's Board is now working out the =
the details=20
which will be announced later, but this much is known =
already:</FONT></P>

  then evaluate if it is worthwhile continuing</FONT></LI>

  Membership and Nomination Committee (like all memberships)</FONT></LI>

  renewal, but individuals who want to continue their membership can do =

on July 1st, the first day of the Forum's new membership year, M4IF's =
official name is "MPEG Industry Forum" (MPEGIF) The Forum will =
continue the M4IF name, website and logo for its MPEG-4 activities. =

changes to MPEGIF's Statutes.
