Folks,
Folks ask me about this pretty regularly, so here it is. We've
announced that this year's Mastering Compression classes are going to be
June 30 - July 4 and August 11 - 15.
    Full details here:
http://www.digitalmediaacademy.org/compression.html
As always, the classes will be taught on the Stanford University campus,
with students receiving Stanford Continuing Education credits for the class.
This means the classes are reimbursable by many employers and schools.
On-campus housing and meal plans are also available for those traveling. I
stay in the dorms and eat with the class, so for those so inclined, there's
about as much talk about video compression as you could imagine.
This year, we'll going to be covering MPEG-4 in much more detail than
last year. All going well, we might even be able to show off some early
tools with AVC support. For those involved in creating compression tools,
the class is a GREAT way to see how customers interact with them, and how
competing tools perform in the real world.
