There no free tools those these jobs, as far as I know. The best place to
get started is to read the ASF spec.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/asfspec.aspx
Next, get the DirectX SDK from http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/.

Subject: [Mp4-tech] mpeg-4 in .asf
dear all,
I have a panasonic dv camera which stores the recorded video in mpeg-4
data wrapped by .asf file format (not .mp4 ;(
it can only be connected to "Mpeg4s Decoder DMO", I think its mpeg-4 is
not really conforms to mpeg-4 standard.. or may be it uses special
profile/level..
is there any way for me to know what mpeg-4 profile (and level) it is
using ?
if I need an mpeg-4 simple profile level 0 data (h.263 baseline) for
input to my application, how can I convert into it ?
any free tools for my jobs ? ;)
thanks for the help,
