[Mp4-tech] [Video] Significance of DPB for I Stream

Dear Experts,
                        I would like to know the significance of DPB in a
stream containing only I Frames.
In SVA_BA1_B.264 (has all I frames) the SPS information shows Num of Ref
Frames = 5. 
                        In a stream containing only I Frames, what is the
significance of the above information?
