[Mp4-tech] Doubt on Intra prediction

Hi ,
       Can any one help me regarding the Sum of Absolute differenes (SAD)
and SATD calculation in H.264 encoder
1.  Which one is the better one SATD or SAD .
2.  Is there any specific reason for using of SATD(Sum of Hadmard) over SAD
for 4x4 intraprediction.
