Friday 1 August 2023 - MPEG-4 News Digest week 30, 2003

MPEGIF News Readers,

In week 30, MPEGIF welcomed QUALCOMM and VidTools as new members.

Preparation for the IBC  show in September in Amsterdam are in full swing. Our booth will feature 9 pods with members displaying MPEG-4 Audio and Video solutions, including two (new) members showing Advanced Video Coding (a.k.a. H.264). We will also show MPEG-7 technology on our booth.

The 65th MPEG meeting ended a week ago. MPEG approved the final drafts for the MPEG-21 parts called "Rights Expression Language" and "Rights Data Dictionary", and made progress on the spec that defines how to carry AVC content over MPEG-2 Transport Streams. MPEG completed the work on MPEG-4 Reference Hardware (part 9), which consists of standard, portable HDL descriptions of MPEG-4 tools. (HDL stands for Hardware Description Language). MPEG's press release is here.

Best Regards,

Rob Koenen
