MPEGIF DIGEST September 2004
Dear MPEGIF News
Readers,
We have to catch up a little with our
news digest and will get back into a regular routine from now on. Let us kick
things off again with a quick look back to IBC 2004 in Amsterdam in this September edition.
MPEGIF had a large presence again with
dicas, Equator Technologies, Fraunhofer, Infovalue and WIS Technologies as participating members. All in all there were more than 30 MPEGIF member present at IBC with most of them demonstrating MPEG-4 AVC products and services.
IBC 2004 also marked the official launch of MPEGIFs long awaited Logo Qualification Program. The scene for that was set in the MPEGIF Super-Session (jointly
organised with ISMA) titled “MPEG Technologies - Setting New Standards”, which took place during the show. Top executives from Apple, Philips, Harmonic, Video Networks, O2, BBC, Tandberg, Equator etc. gave their views on trends and technologies, shared experiences on adoption and deployments.
In addition, there were more good news such as - German TV operator Premiere announced that they will utilise MPEG-4 AVC for their HD channel; MPEG-4 High Efficiency AAC has been selected by 3GGPP as its codec of choice for 3G-delivered audio content.
Please also have a look at our IBC show pages.
Kind regards,
Sebastian Moeritz President,
MPEGIF
